Luther Memorial School was one of the oldest schools in the Southeastern District, LCMS. It was founded way back in 1856, in Richmond, VA. Its purpose at the founding was “to fulfill the Great Commission,” and to nurture Children through a “Faith-in-Practice” style of education. It carried out its mission through the Civil War, two World Wars, a Great Depression, and many conflicts and changes. Now, in its closing, comes the opportunity to expand the influence and purpose of Luther Memorial School to many more children in a new time, with new challenges, through the grants that will be awarded by MALIM as a result of this gift.
